Lost

I had a tough time this week. What was supposed to be a simple story, I had to write for hours. Why? Because I feel so unsure about the matter. I am clueless and lost and encoutnering words I cannot comprehend. Dad says all I have to do is read and read and read and read. But what if I still don't get it after reading?

Currently feeling: restless

New Beat again

Just when I thought I was cool because I will be covering the first automated polls in the country, I was told by my editor last week that I would be given a new assignment as some people were leaving the company. Moving should not be a big deal anymore since I have changed assignments quite a number of times this year. In January, I moved to covering the Department of National Defense and  local government units from NEDA, and then moved to the House of Representatives in April. In May, I was covering only local government units, and then back to the Department of National Defense. In September, I was transferred to Intramuros to cover the Department of Tourism, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Public Works and Highways, Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, Department of Health, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education and the Commission on Elections.

Moving is really a big deal to me this time because the new assignment is not part of the political cluster anymore. I am tasked to cover private banks, appreciation and/or depreciation of the peso and auction of treasury bills and treasury bonds. Totally different from what I have been covering. Ok. I had economics subjects in UP but when I was still studying, I only had basics about banks and did not really think I would be needing it in the future. Even when I was already working, I never thought that I would be covering banks one day.

My first day was yesterday and I guess I could say I survived. My stories were late though. I have so much to learn.  I told myself before that I would be thinking about the direction I would like to take after the elections. But now that I am not covering that anymore, I may have to think about it now. I am going to try to do what I can do and we'll see.

Kpop

I bought Super Junior's 3rd album last week. I know it was released here in the Philippines a month ago but I only had the time to get it last week. This is what work does to you. I got a copy because I wanted to check out their music. Fan girl mode warning. Ok. I have to admit that I also wanted to check the photo diary that  comes with it since the 13 members are such fine lads. Haha!

I have seen the music video for Sorry, Sorry some months back. I thought the song was catchy and ok, but I never really bothered to look up their other songs. It was only after my sister Angela told me about their funny videos on Youtube, and when Monette told me that: "Eunhyuk is love," that I only started to really pay more attention.

To Youtube, I went and I came across a video of Charice Pempengco with Super Junior in Korea. In that video, she sang A Whole New World with the group's youngest member, Kyuhyun. After seeing that video, I instantly became a fan. Kyuhyun cannot only sing, but can do it really well. Amazing voice too. (Charice having a powerful voice is already given.) He's my new crush. Haha! I also like the other member, Siwon.

Other members of the group are Leeteuk, Heechul, Han geng, Yesung, Kang-in. Shindong. Sungmin, Donghae, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook and Kibum. It took three videos before I was finally able to attach all the names to their faces.  I wonder how much it costs to be sponsoring such a big group.

So what can I say about the CD? I like it because most of the songs are upbeat and the type that you can sort of, dance to. Think Craig David's Insomnia. (I had to write sort of since I am not sure if the movements I do qualify as a dance. Haha!) Of course, I couldn't understand the lyrics since it is Korean but if the English translation I found are correct, the songs are mostly about love.

There are other Kpop artists that have infiltrated the Philippine music scene like 2NE1, Big Bang and Shinee. I don't know if it is because there are so many Koreans here. I hope more music from other countries will also be available here. Not that I am complaining about OPM (Original Pilipino Music). Having choices is always good.

New Beat

I recently moved to another beat. This is the fourth time I am writing about a new assignment. Why am I always moving? Let's just put it this way. When people leave or get sick, someone else has to get the work done and that someone in our cluster is me.

Just a short background. In January, I was assigned to cover the Department of National Defense and local government units after being assigned to NEDA for six months. In April, I was asked to cover the House of Representatives. After three weeks, I was left with local government units. In August, Defense was given back to me. And now, I have a new beat which include the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Health, Department of Tourism, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Education, Depart of Public Works and Highways, Red Cross, Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines and (drum roll please) the Comelec.

This time around, I think I will be staying in the beat for a longer time because the elections are approaching. First  time for the country to have automated polls and I will be writing about it. Pretty cool huh? The not so cool part is that I am not a registered voter yet. Ok. I can feel it. My cool factor instantly disappeared right after writing that sentence. My mom said that I really have to register because it would be weird not to since I will be writing about it. I know that. I was supposed to go today but couldn't, no thanks to typhoon Ondoy. I will have to do it next week. The deadline to beat is October 31 and doing it at the last minute does not sound like a brilliant idea at all.

24

Turned a year older last week but I still feel like a kid. What's good about it is that it gives me another excuse to get something for myself. A new bag may be appropriate.

Big thanks to the following people for the greetings: Desiderio folks, Dona, Ann, Chiqui, Jessica, Gian, Tita Joy, Emily, Marie, Gayzelle, Shie, Martha, Christel, Belle, Veronica, Aira, Judy, Miya, JM, Mickey, Mika, Monette and Don.

I celebrated with my family at Il Pirata last week. Food was good. Here's what I wore:

flattering flats

Hurray for the cake!

I had dinner at TGIF with High School friends last night to celebrate. It was nice to see them again, although it would have been better if we were complete. I have no complains. I am happy.

Cards from Veronica, Martha and Belle
